My older brother Andrew is coming to town this week to visit and help out with some home projects. Andrew is amazingly talented and we will be relying heavily on his brain and brawn if we are to get things done right quickly. He is flying in from New Jersey specifically to help with home projects. It is never convenient to take time out from work (for us or him) but we could not pass up this opportunity to catch up with my brother and get some things done around the house.
Building a fence is #1. 30′ of cedar in 6′ sections built from scratch. We told our neighbors to go ahead and trash their chain link fence because we were going to extend our wooden one from the back yard to the street. Well, it has taken a little longer than expected to get this project off the ground so we are excited to have it slotted for the next couple of days. I hit Home Depot and ordered all the materials (to be delivered to our driveway) and enlisted our friend Jeff for his local building skills and tools. Plants and shrubs have been gifted to new homes through Craigslist and beer is on ice. Now I just need to dig some post holes… I am hoping the ground is soft because of my rebuilt collarbone… I’ll see.
